The Lechweg – right next to the Hotel Talhof
From source to waterfall
The Lech – one of Europe’s last wild rivers
The turquoise-coloured Lech is one of the last unspoilt wild rivers in the whole of Europe. It lends its name to the Tiroler Lech Nature Park and the Lechweg. The popular Lechweg is the first cross-border long-distance hiking trail set against an alpine backdrop. It stretches 125 kilometres from the source of the Lech near Lake Formarin in Vorarlberg to the Lechfall in Füssen in the Allgäu.
It offers picturesque landscapes and legendary tales, passing one of Europe’s largest ibex colonies and a waterfall that, as if by magic, dries up every year only to spring forth anew. Crossing Austria’s longest pedestrian suspension bridge, it takes hikers all the way to the Bavarian royal castles.

Frauensee – a magical place in the Tyrolean Alps
The wild and romantic Frauensee is idyllically situated at the foot of the Gehrenspitze and is considered a real insider’s tip among nature lovers. The small mountain lake enchants with its tranquil atmosphere and crystal-clear water, which invites you to take a refreshing dip in summer. Particularly worth seeing are the blooming water lilies, which transform the shore into a picturesque natural paradise – a true place of power that invites you to linger and take a deep breath.
From the hotel, Frauensee can be easily reached in about 1 to 1.5 hours via the Costaries Chapel
Highline179 – Thrills with a view
The spectacular Highline179 suspension bridge is a unique experience. At a height of 114 metres, it spans the valley over a length of 406 metres, connecting the historic Ehrenberg castles with Fort Claudia on the opposite side. The view is breathtaking – a ‘thrill-filled view’ is guaranteed here!
For a comfortable ascent to the Ehrenberg castle complex, the modern Ehrenberg Liner funicular and the Top Liner are available, making access to the site much easier.

Top hotel on the Lechweg
We’d like to thank you for the excellent hospitality; the Talhof has won us over once again. We’re already thinking of coming back in the autumn to take advantage of the hiking opportunities!! We can’t recommend you highly enough.

Brilliant for our Lechweg hikes
We were hiking the Lechweg as a group and chose the Hotel Talhof for the final stages from Stanzach to Füssen, then stayed on for another night. It was very pleasant for us because the owner is a hiking guide herself and had some great tips for us. All in all, a fantastic stay with superb service. We’ll be back!

Top-class hotel, even for a short stay
I was hiking along the Lechweg and (unfortunately) only stayed at the hotel for one night. Both the very friendly receptionist and the hotelier couple left a very positive impression on me. Top-class rooms, excellent food and a wonderful view.
