Discover Ehrenberg on foot
On your own or - even better - with one of our culture and nature guides, you can hike from the Klause via the Ehrenberg ruins and, if you're not tired yet, up to the Schlosskopf or Fort Claudia. We will tell you about the history of the region and the wonders of nature. The castle museum is definitely worth a visit!
Many years ago, important transport routes such as the Roman road Via Claudia Augusta and the salt road Via Salina passed through the Reutte Nature Park region and had a significant impact on the lives of its inhabitants. There are numerous sights such as churches, chapels and fountains with interesting history to discover in all the villages in the nature park region. The Klause, near Ehrenberg Castle, is the "customs station", so to speak, of the famous Roman road.
A historical ensemble paired with state-of-the-art technology
The defiant remains of the Ehrenberg castle ruins, Fort Claudia, the Schlosskopf fortress and the Ehrenberger Klause hermitage rise up on a rugged rocky peak in a narrow valley south of Reutte and offer a fantastic view of the valley and the Lech river.
Medieval fortresses, an interactive museum, a secret rock passage, viewing platforms for a magnificent view over the castle complexes and the valley basin, a 406 metre long pedestrian suspension bridge Highline179 spanning the valley and an inclined lift for barrier-free access - these are the facts for an eventful day for the whole family. All this is on offer at Ehrenberg Castle World, which is located on the historic Via Claudia Augusta Roman road.
In order to make the view and history of Ehrenberg accessible to everyone, two inclined lifts provide comfortable and, above all, barrier-free access to the Ehrenberg castle ensemble. Inclined lift I "Ehrenberg Liner" takes you to the Hornwerk, the Ehrenberg castle ruins and highline179. Inclined lift II "Top Liner", which opened at the beginning of March 2023, takes you to the highest point in the Ehrenberg castle world, the Schlosskopf fortress.
In the warmer months, daring guests have the opportunity to glide down into the valley on the "DRAGONFLY" zipline. Wheelchair users will also enjoy the opportunity, as the zipline is barrier-free!
